You can use Ulrich's Periodicals Directory to find information about periodicals. Ulrich's will tell you:

who publishes a periodical
how long the periodical has been around
whether the periodical is a scholarly journal, a magazine, or a trade publication
what databases index that periodical

and more! Some periodicals even have reviews.
